A sabre for an officer of the Chasseurs à cheval of the Young Guard, France 1812 - 15
Slightly curved blade, etched, blued, and gilded, with "Garde Imperiale" between sparse vines on both obverse and reverse sides. Gilded knucklebow hilt in brass relief, the obverse side languet bears a crowned "N" in a laurel wreath, and there is a hunting horn between acanthus leaves on the back plate. Leather grip cover with brass wire winding. Brass and leather scabbard with relief scabbard bands and movable suspension rings. Iron drag. Blade etching and hilt bear traces of gold bronze. There is a residue of dark resin on the blade. Replacement leather on the scabbard. Length 105 cm.

Next to the Guard Grenadiers, the Chasseurs à cheval of the Guard were the most prestigious regiment in Bonaparte's army. A squadron of that regiment served as the emperor's bodyguard on every campaign.

A model 1810 shako for enlisted men of the 14th French Line Infantry Regiment
High black felt body, the top, adjustable band, and stamped front brim are of black leather. Brass metal chinscales on rosettes stamped with a grenade. Diamond-shaped, stamped emblem, leather cockade, and red wool pompom. The band leather is somewhat cracked. Linen lining missing. Comes with the rare neck cover made of goat leather (defects). There is also a red shako tassel for grenadiers or fusilier-grenadiers.
